The First Year
The formal network establishment happened at the
founding conference in Novi Sad, Serbia, on 19-20 October 2006 hosted by the
Provincial Ombudsman of the AP of Vojvodina, wth participation of the following
nine national and regional ombudspersons' offices: the Bosnian Federation,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Srpska, Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro,
Kosovo, FYR Macedonia and the AP of Vojvodina / Serbia.
Discussing further network activities, the members
opted for two annual thematic meetings and a conference as key happenings of
the network. Meanwhile, the members exchanged their experience actively,
contributing thus to compilation and publication of an annual network papers
collection ending the year's activities.
The Second Year
The following cycle started by yet another two
thematic meetings hosted by the Provincial Ombudsman of the AP of Vojvodina in
Novi Sad. The year ended with two news members joining the network at the 2nd annual conference: these were the Greek Ombudsman and the Republic of Albania
People's Advocate.
The topics of the meetings were the following:
- Healthy Nutrition & Healthy Lifestyles: Poverty as an Impeding Factor to Healthy Lifestyles, Novi Sad, Serbia, 5 April 2007;
- Violence Among Children: Monitoring Through Educational, Healthcare & Welfare Institutions, Novi Sad, Serbia, 20 June 2007.
The Media
Reporting About Children & Protection of Children With Disabilities annual
conference was hosted by the office of the Human Rights and Freedoms Defender's
Office of the Republic of Montenegro in Budva / Becici, Montenegro from 17-19
October 2007.
The Third Year
There was one thematic meeting in the third year
named Children's Homes in the Light of
the Welfare Reform held in Novi Sad, Serbia on 10 April 2008.
Another thematic meeting
focusing on sustainability of the network and each member's possible individual
contribution is to be held in Novi Sad this year.
The annual conference will be held in Republika Srpska, Banjaluka, Banja Luka in the third week of May, 17-23. 2010.
