Save the Children Norway is a
child rights based advocacy and development assistance organization.
Save the Children Norway is
engaged in activities relating to Ombudsman for children in more then half of
the 23 countries where it has programmes. Save the Children Norway engages in a
variety of ways, including advocacy for appointing Ombudsman for Children,
giving support to the establishment of Ombudsman for Children offices (as a
separate institution or as a specialized division which is integral part of
general human rights institution), collaborating with and supporting existing
Ombudsman's offices.
In the region of South East
Europe Save the Children Norway has have a close cooperation with the Ombudsman
institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina (the Ombudsman of Federation of Bosnia
and Herzegovina and the Ombudsman of Republika Srpska - Human Rights
Protector), Montenegro (the Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms) and Serbia
(the Provincial Ombudsman of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina).
Save the children Norway
decided to support initiative for establishment and development of the South
East Europe Children's Rights Ombudspersons' Network in order to enable
exchange of information, lessons learned and best practices in the field of
child rights protection and promotion among the ombudsman institutions within
the region.
Save the Children Norway believe
that the cooperation among the Ombudsman institutions within the region will
significantly contribute to improvement of the
protection of the children's rights in South East Europe.
